The Anti-Cash-Cow Moos On To all you media musketeers who decided late one brillant night to wrap up a single generation into one shiny sleek marketing package-- smooth and appealing and stamp an abstract x on it's side you are mistaken- you can not generalize this generation and while this may complicate your plans for marketing genious-ity (what next? considering the existence of the "individual"?! a being not of the masses?!) Too bad- I am not this mindless zombie that you wish me to be that you can sell your pop song and dance to You can not shove your ideals of beauty down this throat I am better then airbrushed and Silicone. I am myself. Thinking. Gaze at me strangly- for I do not fit your mold I choose to make my own standards and templates.. for this. this is beauty. for me. Go ahead, stamp the word "hero" on some dead troubadour/singer's forehead.... and the world agrees on their knees as they worship some romanticized memory all because some media musketeer stamped the word "hero" on his forehead and no one has the nerve to say he talented but ordinary- a mortal that dead trobadour/singer and his forehead was never MY hero just because I am part of this generation. (I'm sure he was nice but I never knew the guy and although I felt bad for his wife- when he died - suicide his death did not cause utmost despair in my life when I heard the news my only thought was "how ironic that his death has made him immortal" all the sudden he was of vast importance to the world all the sudden his style and apparel was the new thing the hottest and must have look for the new york runways and scene the topic of "artistic documentaries") and someone somewhere stamped some psuedo-sentimental sentiment like "voice of a generation" when in truth he was only the voice of himself. just another human being. now a face captured for the vast memorbelia and profit now a sage! a sound! a bible to be read! a prophet to believe! for to understand his verse is to understand everything that doesn't make sense in the young world, right? wrong. what is this strange fetish you have with making everything neat having shallow explantions that are simple and pretty easy to digest like leave it to beaver and other sugar coated realities Perhaps it scares our society just a little bit less to have these meaningless explanations like religions that "explains" god and the afterlife like the frantic scapegoating of musicians in moments of mystery and crisis because it's oh so easy to blame and beleive in the surface Well... I, sir am not buying it No, you'll have to do better then that. for I, sir am not for the labeling I, madame am ever changing I, you see, am re-arranging the accepted perspective of your society we all do, when we dare to be ourselves when we dare to be true to what we feel and what we are and only then shall we succeed when we look past the shiny package and surface down to the gritty bottom ... down to the root- down to the truth which never looks as "pretty" (though I find it greatly beautiful) the truth is never as easy to take. Yes the truth isn't always glamamourus and brave but it's far more satisfying then this sleek and shiny waste and all this crap that we praise My words. My words are the anti-cash cow in your marketing scheme I am the voice of myself and while others may relate - others may agree I can and do only speak for me.
